An interesting piece to reflect on, considering the now-enacted floor price on carbon. There is no doubt that economic barriers between the provinces and territories make national trade a difficult process, and carbon taxation is no exception (yes, we're calling it a tax). However, to suggest that environmentalists should not be pushing Christy Clark on her lack of action because of an upcoming election is absurd. If we are going to take significant (not to mention necessary) action against Climate Change, we should not be encouraging politicians to take the easy road out. The time to act is now, and in order to do so policy-makers must do everything in their power to give unconcerned citizens the incentive to change their preferences.
